How AI Wrote Seven Blog Posts for My Product in Forty Minutes

Last week I sat down to write a content marketing plan for Calendrz. Seven blog posts, each targeting a different audience segment, each with a matching LinkedIn teaser. The kind of work that would normally take me a solid two or three days of writing, editing, second-guessing, and procrastinating.

It took about forty minutes. And I didn’t write a single word of the final copy myself.

Before you click away thinking this is another “AI is amazing!” puff piece, stick with me. Because the interesting part isn’t that AI can write blog posts. Everyone knows that by now. The interesting part is how it did it, and what that tells us about where AI fits in the software development lifecycle.

The Setup: AI That Reads Your Codebase

Here’s what I didn’t do: I didn’t open ChatGPT, type “write me a blog post about calendar syncing” and hope for the best. That approach produces generic content that could be about any product. It’s the content equivalent of a stock photo.

Instead, I used Claude Code (the same AI agent I use for actual software engineering) and pointed it at the Calendrz codebase. The agent explored the controllers, entities, services, pricing tiers, MCP integration, UI components, and recent git history. It then fetched the existing blog content from the live website to understand what had already been published.

The result? The AI knew that Calendrz supports 8 marker colours (graphite, blueberry, lavender, sage, flamingo, tangerine, banana, peacock). It knew the exact pricing of each tier. It knew that the Pro plan allows 5 connected accounts and includes out-of-office auto-decline. It knew about summary macros like $domain and $account_name. Not because I told it, because it read the source code.

This is the difference between AI as a fancy autocomplete and AI as a collaborator that understands your product.

Gap Analysis: What the AI Found

After researching both the codebase and the existing blog content, the agent identified seven content gaps. No getting-started guide. No privacy-focused positioning piece. No persona-targeted content for freelancers or consultants. Two features: marker colours and summary macros had never been blogged about at all.

I didn’t brief the AI on these gaps. It found them by comparing what the product does (from the code) with what we’ve talked about publicly (from the website). That’s not pattern matching. That’s analysis.

The Output: Seven Posts in Forty Minutes

The agent produced seven complete blog posts. Five content marketing pieces for the “Blog” category, two feature highlights for “Company News“. Each one was factually accurate: the pricing figures, the feature details, the tier comparisons all checked out against the codebase. Each one had a clear audience, a specific angle, and a call to action.

It also produced seven LinkedIn teasers, each condensing the blog post into a social-friendly format with the right hashtags and a link back to the full article.

Then it published all seven as drafts directly to WordPress via the REST API. By the time I looked up from my coffee, there were seven new drafts sitting in the WordPress dashboard, categorised correctly, ready for review.

So What Did I Actually Do?

I reviewed. I edited a few phrases. I adjusted some emphasis. Total editorial time: maybe twenty minutes.

And that’s the mental model I think engineers and founders need to adopt. AI isn’t replacing the writer. It’s replacing the blank page. The hardest part of content creation has always been going from zero to a first draft. The research, the outline, the getting-words-on-paper phase. AI demolishes that phase. What remains (editorial judgment, brand voice, strategic emphasis) is still very much human work.

What This Means for the SDLC

Here’s the bigger picture. The same AI agent that wrote marketing copy also helps me write Java services, Angular components, Flyway migrations, and Spock tests for Calendrz. The same codebase understanding that let it write accurate blog posts about marker colours is the same understanding that lets it add a new API endpoint without breaking existing patterns.

We’re not in a world where AI does one thing well. We’re in a world where AI understands your entire system — code, data model, business logic, published content, and competitive positioning — and can operate across all of those domains with context.

The SDLC isn’t just “plan, code, test, deploy” anymore. It’s “plan, code, test, deploy, document, market, and iterate”, and AI can participate meaningfully in every stage. Not perfectly. Not without oversight. But meaningfully.

The Trust Question

I’ve written before about trusting AI-generated code. The same principles apply to AI-generated content. You don’t trust it blindly. You verify. You read. You check the facts against reality.

But here’s the thing: you do the same with human-written content. You’d review a freelance writer’s first draft just as carefully. The difference is that the AI draft arrived in minutes, not days, and it was grounded in the actual product reality because it read the codebase — something no freelance writer would do.
